Skegness Gateway
Five years of flood risk, hydraulic modelling and drainage engineering to unlock a 136-hectare urban extension west of Skegness.
Description
A 136-hectare urban extension planned to deliver 1,000 homes west of Skegness, formally adopted via Local Development Order in 2025. Keystone provided five years of flood risk, hydraulic modelling and drainage engineering to unlock the site for Croftmarsh.
Technical scope
Surface water drainage strategy; hydraulic modelling (tidal breach and overtopping); site-specific flood risk assessment; evacuation and access modelling; stakeholder engagement; technical evidence to support the Local Development Order; surface water management and storage optimisation; drainage design.
Outcome
Long-term collaboration with Croftmarsh, East Lindsey District Council and the Environment Agency informed site-specific flood risk solutions, contributing to coastal flood resilience and unlocking the site for mixed-use development.
